Ninja Words Adventure app good for
À quand une suite pour dautres kanji ?
Les jōyō kanji pourraient êtres appris en quelques épisodes !
Quelques effets graphiques supplémentaires seraient sympas aussi.
Very good app, Im looking forward for other episodes !
That would be great to learn all the jōyō kanji in 4 or 5 parts.
Some additional graphical effects during fights would also be great.
Im available to translate your app in French for free. ;)
Only the reading is missing.. Funny kanji trainer.. Good work.
So far this is the only kanji software that I have stuck with simply because its addictive. Ive been wanting to learn kanji but I find that I get bored after awhile and lose my motivation.
I would like to ask for different levels that would allow the character to battle using not only definitions but actual words as well. For example the kanji 上手=じょうず for non-native Japanese speakers. This would be a great way to learn more difficult vocabulary. Also for more difficult levels put often confused kanji together more often rather than English words that are similar.
Overall, a great game. Highly recommended for learning to recognize kanji more quickly. Not so good for learning them in depth though as they flash on the screen so quickly.
Some bad moments
I randomly found this app under RPG games on the day its released, and Ive got to say that overall, I really like the concept of learning Japanese while playing an RPG. Best of both worlds! Ive been playing it for a couple of hours now. =)
This game basically tests you on your Kanji and its meanings--Kanji to English meaning and English meaning to Kanji. Depending on the Kanji level and how fast you answer correctly, you can give more damage to the enemy when attacking, or receive less damage from an enemy when blocking. You get to use more Kanji (or Spell Balls, as the game calls it) as you answer correctly from enemy attacks. I havent finished the game yet, but so far the game lists at least 500 Kanji to discover and use.
Since Ive already have some experience with Japanese, I found it to help polish my Kanji reading skills. However, if you do not really know any Kanji yet, you might have trouble advancing in the game since you need to know the characters youre dealing with in order to do well. The game does provide a list of Kanji your main character knows with the meanings right beside it, but your character has to learn it _before_ you can see the Kanji and its definition (meaning, you would have to answer correctly at first to know its meaning--kind of counterintuitive). So for people just getting started with Kanji, I would not recommend it, unless you want to learn via trial and error. Also, for people that want to focus more on how to write Kanji and learn stroke orders, I would recommend that you look at other apps instead.
I bought this game not knowing a single kanji so I was prepared for trial and error. Losing a battle doesnt set you back much which makes trying again painless.
The battles are fun and its a blast to learn more kanji to attack with! Though as ScPpY said, the game isnt for teaching you how to write kanji, only recognize it.
Even for someone like me who doesnt know Japanese, this game is still fun to play. If you have even a slight care about Japanese, you cant go wrong with this game!
Ive never written a review before, but this game is so great i just had to.
I love video games, especially rpgs, and have wasted a LOT of time playing them, but time spent playing this is productive if you already want to learn kanji. (and who doesnt?)
It does not play like other learning games either. Its fun. It is cute, but not particularly childish, it is simple enough to keep you learning the kanji rather than the game yet not so simple as to be boring.
I hadnt really studied kanji before playing this, but im still doing fine in the game. I may lose most of the time on new enemies, but negative reinforcement is one of the most effective ways of learning, and there are no long term penalties for losing, you just go back to before the battle (or series of battles) the best thing, though, is that once you learn at least 80% of an enemies words, you can just skip over them if you want.
Get it, Love it, Learn Japanese

... Why are you still looking at this? GO BUY IT ALREADY!
I recommended this to everyone I know that is learning Japanese... It is a definite buy...
Ive bought at least 100$ worth of Japanese learning apps since the the app store opened and this is the first Japanese learning app that had some thought put into it! Since I bought it 12 hours ago, Ive stayed on the app for 4 hours at least. The way its designed as an rpg is very cool. I get just as frustrated when I lose playing this game as I do others. Great app. Maybe a future update can show the nihongo meaning instead of the English word ? Best app for the price
Its my favorite app so far :3 Hard to put down. Im already making better sense of Japanese found in the wild, too. Fun, professional game, and great for learning kanji :3 It doesnt give the Japanese pronunciation or words using the kanji, but its a wonderful supplement.
